August Schilling Elementary School

After many years of planning and community engagement, Schilling Elementary School launched it's Spanish/English dual language program in 2021. As of the 2023-24 school year, we will have developed this program to reach Kinder through 3rd grade and will eventually serve K-5th by 2025.

We offer a two way dual language model. The instructional day allocates 50% of the instruction in Spanish and 50% in English. We are proud that our school enrollment has a balance of students with different primary languages. Our goal is to  have 30% of students enrolled have Spanish as their primary language, 30% with English as their primary language, and 30% other languages. Our curriculum focuses on the 3 pillars of biliteracy and has thoughtfully included explicit instruction on socio-cultural competence.
