Description

Odyssey Charter School in Wilmington, DE, is a Greek American charter school. It launched its one-way Greek language immersion program in 2017; the first high school immersion graduates are expected in 2030.

The immersion program is in full expansion for the next six years since every year, a new cohort is added horizontally and vertically. In 2023-24, about 420 immersion students were registered, K-6.

Odyssey's Greek language immersion program is approved by the DOE in DE, and it is the only full Greek language immersion program in the United States. Students get admitted in K and 1st grades through a lottery system without any prerequisite.

Finally, the immersion program is renowned for its outstanding performance in the state diagnostic tests in ELA and Math (SBAC). In 2023, Odyssey was a finalist for the prestigious YASS National Prize and was awarded the $500,000 STOP Award for its sustainable and transformational immersion program.
